The Foster Care Program provides for the temporary placement and supervision of a child/children placed in the custody of this agency by the court. Placement may be in a foster family home, group living arrangement, residential treatment facility or in an independent living situation. Placement is based on the specific needs of the child.
While in foster care, a social worker assists the family and child/children toward resolving the problems that brought them into foster care. Services provided to children and their families may include, but are not limited to, counseling, substance abuse treatment, medical, educational, employment, family planning, independent living, housing, respite care, legal, and socialization and recreation services.
It is the goal of the Foster Care Program to provide permanency to children. This is accomplished by returning the child/children to the parent or prior custodian if possible, permanent placement with an appropriate relative, adoption or independent living arrangements for older youth.
